Lark Rise to Candleford

I've added a book to the list of my favorite books.  It is "Lark Rise to Candleford."  I love the scenery of the small village in England in the 20th century and people's simple life, so I enjoyed the details of how they lived their everyday life, going through various happy and harsh events.  I've also found that those people were trying hard to adapt themselves to technological changes of the time like we are doing now.  Reading the story made me feel happy and nostalgic as well because this, I think, is a British version of "Little House on the Prairie" by Laura Ingalls Wilder, which is my starting point of my interest in English language.

私のお気に入りの本のリストにこの２冊を加えたところです。20世紀のイギリスの小さな農村の景色や、人々の素朴な暮らしが大好きなのです。楽しい出来事や辛い出来事とともに日々の生活を送る様子が細かく描かれていてわくわくしながら読みました。今、私たちは大変な変化の時代に生きている、と思っているけど、当時も同様に変化の時代であって、私たちと同じように何とか適応しようと生きているというのも発見でした。そして、私が英語に興味を持った原点である『大草原の小さな家』のイギリスバージョンだ、と嬉しくもノスタルジックな気持ちにもなったのでした。
